new internet business

MusicTeachersNearby
  • My New Internet Business: MusicTeachersNearby.com

I have just launched a new web site!  The website is MusicTeachersNearby.com.  On this site people can come and search through music teachers based on their location.  Basically it is a directory site for music teacher.  Over the next few months I will be updating everything about building this site from nothing to dominating the world of music lessons!  But first let me give you some FAQs on MusicTeachersNearby.

1. What exactly is this website all about?

People looking for music teachers or vocal coaches can come to this website and search through our database of teachers.  They can filter by instrument and location, as well as price, rating, and distance.  It is a fast an easy way to find a local music teacher for free.

2. Don’t websites already exist like this?

I have come across a few in my searches, but I can do better.  The internet has changed since these sites were set up.  The sites are all text, ugly colors, full of tables, and just plain ugly.  None of them are very SEO optimized either.  They have been around for many years, which gives them the edge over me, but with a lot of work and dedication, I know that I can better them.

3. So, what is with the lame ass domain name?

Hey now, that’s not very nice.  I picked it because it will have thousands of pages and they all need to rank well, so I picked the a domain name to help with seo.  And it is not that lame, I think it is kind of catchy.

4. How do you get paid?

It’s a freemium.  So I give them a taste of the service, and if they want more they have to upgrade to a paying membership.  The teachers are allowed to be contacted 3 times by potential students for free.  After this happens they get an email saying that if they wish to continue their membership they will have to upgrade their membership and either pay $10 a month or $90 a year.

5. How are you going to promote it?

Tons of ways.  I will write at least one or two posts about how I will be promoting this website.  But you can help if you want!  There is an affiliate program that pays $10 for every teacher you refer who upgrades his or her account.  You get their first month’s payment.  If you want to do this just go to the site and sign up as a teacher.  Then head on over to the Bling section to get some banner and your affiliate url.

6. What’s in it for me?

You get to see an internet business from the beginning.  I will be showing exactly what I am doing, what works, what doesn’t work, and everything else.  So you will get all of the trial and error information that I get, just you have no risk!

7. How can I follow these posts?

Easy peazy.  You can sign up for my RSS feed.  Or get my RSS sent to your inbox.  Or you can follow me on twitter.

8. I have another question or I have an awesome contribution/compliment to share :)   What should I do?

Congrats on the site. It’s interesting to say the least. Too bad the link didn’t work, I would have gone and looked at it. I think starting up new sites is exciting and cool. You just never know if you’ll have the next million dollar boom! :)

You sure it doesn’t work? It is working for me. Here is the url:

http://musicteachersnearby.com

I’m not hoping for a million dollars from this site, but because the teachers pay monthly, once it is setup and going, I can basically sit back and reap the rewards :)

Ahhhh. It sounds like it would pay off. The name is a little crazy, but who cares. It is what it says. You could open things up and sell musical intruments on there! :) Music courses. Piano lessons. American Idol rejects… lol It really could be endless.

Pretty cool Patrick. I like the idea. So what kind of things are you going to do to promote it? I mean you mentioned a whole lot of things but what is your primary plan?
Btw. I have now finished all of my research for my mini site so I am soon going to set it up. I think I also send you a message a while ago but I am not sure. Anyway keep it up man!

Right now, I think I’m going to focus on press releases and PPC. It has been up a couple days and it already is on the first and second pages for 20+ keywords, so I think that it has major potential.

Yeah you did contact me abut the minsites. I look forward to hearing how you do with them :)

Patrick,

That’s amazing! I”m interested to hear about the development aspect of it all. I look forward to the details.

P.S. I don’t think the name is crazy. It tells the users what the site is all about.

I am glad you think the domain name isn’t crazy. I tell some people that and they ask me why I would ever name it MusicTeachersNearby. It does tell the user exactly what it does and it also contains nearly every keyword I want to target. I will explain this in a later post, but the subdomains and sub folders will contain every keyword I am looking for. That’s why I think it is ranking so well for 20+ keywords right now.

Case studies are one of my favorite things to read on blogs, so I get really excited when I get to make one :) I hope you enjoy!

Sorry that I’m a bit late in commenting, but I’d also like to know how things are going with the site. Always good to see affiliate marketing in action.
